Join Us for This Wonderful Opportunity to Connect
We are excited to invite you to join us on November 9th at the Sugarbush Resort in beautiful Warren, VT for the 2024 Vermont Caregiver Connection Conference: Keeping the Journey Joyful.
In recent years many of us have felt isolated from our communities and lacking the support we once had. This conference aims to reunite caregivers and enhance the connection and education essential for building a resilient community. This event will provide an exciting opportunity to appreciate the important work you do as a kin, foster or adoptive/guardian caregiver. It will also create a space to rekindle relationships and strengthen the bonds vital for the well-being of you and the children you support. Registration closes on October 23, 2024.
Joy in the Journey!
NOTE: Unfortunately childcare will not be available onsite for this event. Please contact your Resource Coordinator about respite needs. We look forward to seeing everyone in November!
Keynote Speaker
Peter Mutabazi spreads inspiration, hope and joy in sharing his extraordinary journey from being a street kid to becoming a dedicated advocate for children in foster care. Born in Uganda, Peter faced numerous challenges, including running away to avoid alcoholism and violence in his family home. His resilience and determination led him to seek a better life, ultimately settling in the United States. He became a foster and eventually an adoptive parent, providing a loving and supportive home for children who could not live safely with their parent(s). Peter’s work as an advocate extends beyond fostering and he is also involved in various initiatives to improve the foster care system and support children who are navigating similar challenges.
Peter uses social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to tell his story which is a testament to the power of perseverance and compassion. He shares the joys, challenges and occasional heartbreaks of being a single foster and adoptive father using vulnerability and humor. He wants to make sure that every child is seen, heard, known and loved. Peter currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a foster parent to many and adoptive father of three.
