THANK YOU for your interest in becoming a licensed caregiver, and welcome to your foundational training for prospective kinship and foster caregivers. We’re so grateful that you are interested in opening your heart and your home to a vulnerable child or youth! We are here to support you on your way! We offer this 10-hour training as an opportunity to learn more about the children and youth in need of out-of-home care, as well as an opportunity to increase your knowledge, skills and sense of competency related to caring for children and youth who have experienced significant adversity. Additionally, this is an opportunity for you to become more familiar with the various systems involved in the comprehensive care of children, and better understand the importance of working collaboratively with those systems. We hope to provide you a safe, relevant introduction to becoming a licensed kinship or foster caregiver, including an accurate view of both the joys and the challenges of welcoming a child into your home. After you complete Foundations Online, you will have continued opportunities to gain information and knowledge through the Foundations Learning Networks, and alspecialized courses.
